Hurricane Melissa is predicted to become a uncommon highest-level storm as it shifts towards Jamaica, delivering dangerous flash flooding and rock falls.

Residents are being instructed to protect their properties with sandbags and wooden boards, and to gather necessary supplies.

Warnings are also active for parts of the neighboring country including the main city, Port au Prince, the adjacent nation and the eastern part of Cuba, where the hurricane is expected to bring analogous consequences by the middle portion of the coming week.

Mudslides presently generated by the hurricane have already killed two in the country, according to local authorities.

The hurricane is projected to move across Cuba by midweek before traveling via the Caribbean archipelago and entering the Atlantic.
