Norris Edges Out Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice

Lando Norris just pipped fellow driver and title rival the Australian for the top spot in the dying seconds of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.

Norris, who seized the title advantage from Piastri by just one point after winning in the Mexican Grand Prix recently, beat the Melbourne-born driver by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.

Before then, Oscar Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair during the running before the sprint shootout scheduled for 6:30 PM GMT.

The Red Bull star, the other racer in the points battle, lying 36 points behind Norris, finished in 17th place as his Red Bull team ran a different programme.

His teammate the Japanese driver was the only driver to crash, albeit lightly, when he spun at the fourth corner soon after starting.

Tsunoda lost control over the exit kerbs before rotating through the escape zone, and was fortunate to escape with just a light touch of the wall.

The Ferrari of Lewis Hamilton also lost it, at the final moments of the session, spinning around through the high-speed corner approaching the last turn on to the main straight.

Hamilton ended the session in P19, just behind team-mate Charles Leclerc.

The McLaren drivers were significantly quicker of the remaining drivers, with the German's Sauber P3, 0.619secs behind Piastri's pace.

Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was in fourth, with the Sauber of Bortoleto in front of Mercedes' Russell and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
